A page is slow or will not load
On this page
Most of a 4Search page arrives at once, but some parts are filled in afterwards. Knowing which parts, and what their messages mean, tells you whether to wait or to act.
#What loads after the page
- The AI Overview. A box with grey shimmering lines is waiting for the answer. It can take several seconds. If it fails, the box says so and offers Retry AI overview.
- Google web results. The page waits up to about ten seconds for them before it shows a message. See Google web results are blank or will not load.
- Your lists. The Following, Watchlist and My places pages fill in from your saved list. While they do, you see messages such as Loading what you follow… or Loading your places….
- Charts, maps and radar. These are drawn in your browser after the page opens.
#Quick fixes
- Wait a few seconds. Many pages finish on their own.
- Reload the page.
- Check that other websites load. If they are slow too, the cause is your connection.
- Turn off content blockers and privacy extensions for this site, or try a private window. They can stop scripts the page needs.
- Try another browser. If it works there, an extension or setting in the first browser is the cause.
- Update your browser. An older one may not support what maps and radar need.

#Common questions
Will I lose my followed items if a page fails to load?
No. Your list is kept in your browser, and the message says it could not be loaded just now, not that it is gone.
The map is blank but the rest of the page works. Why?
The map is drawn by your browser using WebGL. If WebGL is off or not supported, the map area says so and the rest of the page still works.
The AI box keeps shimmering.
Wait a few more seconds. If it never finishes, reload, or see The AI answer is missing.
